As the number of internet users around the world are increasing rapidly causing a reduction in download and upload speeds.

However, technology is being updated rapidly all around the world.

and we have this technology namely Carrier Aggregation.

Before moving on to network and device eligibility let's quickly discuss

what is Carrier Aggregation and how it works.

Define-

Carrier aggregation is a technique used in wireless communication to increase the data rate per user, whereby multiple frequency blocks (called component carriers) are assigned to the same user. The maximum possible data rate per user is increased the more frequency blocks are assigned to a user.

In easy language Carrier Aggregation is a technique that combines multiple frequency bands that offers you more bandwidth which results in faster internet speeds.

This image might clear your confusion-

Here is the difference between Carrier Aggregation and Normal 4g/LTE.

I hope all your doubts regarding Carrier Aggregation are clear by now.

Now let's move forward on to which network provider uses this technology and which devices can use Carrier Aggregation for now.

Network operators-

There are many network service provider all around India

although there are three most subscribed providers

namely- Airtel, Jio, and Vi(vodafone+idea)

Airtel: Bands- 1,3,5,8,40– Airtel Enabled Carrier Aggregation only in Band 3 and 40 that too only in some of the metropolitan cities.

Jio: Band 3,5 & 40– Jio enabled Carrier aggregation in their All Bandwidths, and in almost all cities they provide their service.

Vodafone Idea: Bands 1,3,8,40,41– Vodafone Idea enabled carrier aggregation in their 20mhz network.

Note-various users using Vodafone sim complained that download speeds are being capped whereas the download speed using idea sim was significantly increased.

Coming on to the devices almost all the smartphones with Qualcomm Snapdragon processor with X5 modem are enabled with carrier aggregation.

MediaTek on the other hand is one of the largest mid-range chip makers in the world. It provides Carrier Aggregation in

Helio P series From P20,

A series supports Carrier Aggregation From A20,

X series supports Carrier Aggregation from X30,

Helio G series supports Carrier Aggregation from G70

And lastly their newly launched dimensity series.

I hope all your doubts regarding Carrier Aggregation are clear by now.
